A study in Kerala, India, confirmed the importance of GENITAL HYGIENE in the fight against infections that have a role in the development of cervical dysplasia and cancer.

*HYGIMATE Femiwash proudly supports the causes raised by FACC.

Vagina has good bacteria fighting to keep bad bacteria out of your reproductive system. These good bacteria are called Lactobacilli because they secrete Lactic Acid . In a healthy vagina these lactobacilli maintain a acidic environment - around 3.8 - 4.5 pH by developing Lactic Acid .
If it smells pungent then this is usually a sign that the delicate balance has been upset and the Lactobacilli (good bacteria) are losing the battle. There are numerous things that can upset the pH balance in the vagina and may lead to Bacterial Vaginosis.

Poor hygiene - If you haven't bathed for few days - things will start getting smelly. It is not recommended to scrub or use heavily perfumed soaps or sprays on your genital area, rather you need a product which is friendly to the vaginal flora (HYGIMATE Femiwash, is recommended by many good Gynaecologists).

Intercourse: Sperms are highly alkaline, so when they arrive in the vagina, the vagina needs to work extra hard to return itself to its acidic status quo, this can cause a brief increase in odour, so use condoms if not planning to conceive which you should be using anyway to avoid STD's too.
Menstruation (Periods) add to risk of Yeast infection: Some physicians found out that estrogen and sugar production is at peak during the midpoint of the menstrual periods. During this time, the large amount of Progestrones starts to build sugar. After that yeast infection can happen, The severe symptoms take place during onset of menstrual cycle. * Women are advised to take extra concern about their menstrual period. Having a proper hygiene can prevent the increase of yeast infection.

Pregnancy and the resultant change in your hormone levels can cause thrush. At this time Prevention Is Best, While you cannot completely avoid vaginal infections, you can reduce your chances of getting one by maintaining through vaginal hygiene. If you are pregnant, be especially careful. It is when these infections are most frequent, and if left untreated, can cause serious problems during childbirth.
Illness - Pelvic Infections can lead to vaginosis. Candida is a condition where the vagina becomes too alkaline (due to diet, oral contraceptives, stress) causing some of the not so good bacteria to flourish. Hygiene is very important when you suffer from this infection. Gynaecologists sometimes suggest a lactic acid wash which cleans it (HYGIMATE Femiwash, contains Lactic Acid).

Low levels of lactobacilli - Some women have less robust lactobacilli because of which sufficient Lactic Acid is not produced leaving them open to infections.
Sanitary Pads ,Panty liners or Tampons increases chances of infection , upsets flora and leads to poor hygiene. Diabetes: Diabetic patients are easily susceptible to Bacterial and Fungal infections, so such females should be extra cautious to maintain their Intimate Hygiene.
Drugs like Oral contraceptives and antibiotics can contribute to vaginosis.

Lastly, remember to treat all vaginal infections in time – the reproductive organs are sensitive and easily develop complications like PID and cervical or ovarian cancer.

Douching is really bad for the vagina. It kills off the lactobacilli leaving your vagina open to attack from the bad Bacteria so strictly avoid.
Good intimate hygiene is a must before having oral sex
Eat a good healthy diet - Minimising sugar intake (sugar helps the bad bacteria grow). Include good yoghurt or acidophilus every day.
Wear cotton underwear - This stops things getting too steamy down there, allowing good air flow.
Any abnormal discharge that has different colour / odour.
Itching and irritation of the vagina and vulva.
Redness, swelling, lumps
Pain and irritation while urinating.
Unusual pain during menstrual periods.

Abnormal Pain during sexual intercourse
Mid-cycle spotting (Any kind of stains, spotting between your regular period cycle).

Besides harmless vaginal infections, they are also signs of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) including HIV-AIDS. Visit your gynaecologist immediately and get a swab test done. Don't ignore any of these symptoms, maintain good Vaginal Hygiene with HYGIMATE Femiwash.
